Public Option Action

Daily Kos
did an excellent roundup yesterday about where the Public Option stands while healthcare is being debated in the Senate Finance Committee. The post encourages Progressives to contact their Democratic Senators and insist on a strong Public Option as part of the final healthcare bill.

Here is a list of the Democrats on the committee, and their contact information. If any of these men or women happen to be one of YOUR Senators, please call or click on the link to email them. Yes, offices are closed over the weekend - but voicemail and email inboxes always get checked.

Did you see Debbie Stabenow's comeback to asshat Jon Kyl of Arizona? Kyl made smartass remark: "I don't need maternity care." Stabenow fired back, "Your Mom probably did." YEAH!

It's Kyl's attitude that makes me want to vomit. If it's not directly related to you, it doesn't apply. I don't have kids...I don't use the library...I never visit national parks...I don't have a chronic illness...why should I have to pay for other people? Since when did it become every person for themselves in this country? What happened to being a NATION, to working together towards a common goal, of a better life for all?

[pant pant pant] Don't get me started, David! ;) XOXO

Thanks for this post David. I sure as hell sent a message to my Senator Mendez here in NJ. Without the Public Option the health care bill is meaningless. Except for the Insurance companies who stand to take in windfall profits!

i don't want a public option. i want a single-payer system, like europeans, canadians, singaporeans and japanese do. it's so much better. instead of forcing everybody to BUY insurance, a single-payer gov't system would must cover everybody who needs it. they can just expand medicare to cover all and get the money from taxes (let's tax the wealthy and the corporations to make them pay their fare share -- right now they pay too little, specially during the republican administrations).

I wish I had a Senator on that list. Mine are all Repugs.

Great post! And comments!

I'd like it to be a single-payer system, too. This hasn't been handled all that well, has it?
